Not so idle thoughts~

On Legacies. I couldn’t remember the last time I’ve visited my alma mater, though it is only a walk away from home. (Not to mention my sister and cousin are still studying there.) It’s been three years since my friends and I graduated from CSR, and the last time we’ve visited there as a group was during the fair when we were still college freshmen. Who would’ve thought that it was to help out in packing relief goods that we’d return again? Well, I’m so proud of my forever friends for doing so! I remembered when the typhoon Ondoy struck our country, we also went to CSR despite the suspesnsion of classes, to help pack relief goods for the victims of the calamity. It’s true that helping others brings you joy and fulfillment. That’s probably the reason why we were part of the Social Action Club back in our Senior Year. The less benevolent reason would be because the club regularly leaves campus, haha. A few minutes ago, a former teacher posted on my friend’s wall thanking us for coming earlier. She called us “Service-oriented Almunae”. It gave me a mushy feeling and a sense of pride, haha. I’m just happy to continue the legacy.

On Family and Friends. I’m actually a pretty introverted kind of person, but I do value my friendship. I guess I’m pretty lucky that my family knows my friends. Not just in the “Hey, you look familiar, you must be Annick’s friend” type of way, but that during some family gatherings, my Mom or my Tita/s would even ask them to come join us like during birthday celebrations - during mine and my brother’s - fiesta or during Good Friday when we join the procession. Since our house was closest, my friends and I usually hung out there often. And well, we’ve been a barkada since 4th/5th grade and until, we’re pretty inseparable. They’re like my family, unrelated by blood but just as supportive. That said, I don’t think I’m going to have a problem asking if my family will allow me to go on a (still on the process of planning) Baguio trip (the farthest we’ve gone together, if ever) with them before the year ends. Now all I need to do is save.

On Blessings. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35

Hi! I'm Annick, and I want to get lost in the world and find myself amidst its wonder.
I'm always searching for everyday miracles, real-life cliches and the perfect words.
