AFTER 2 YEARS OF WAITING and INFINITY DAYS OF I-HAVE-LOTS-OF-THINGS-TO-DO-AND-I-HAVE-NO-TIME-TO-WATCH-THE-MOVIE.
THE HUNGER GAMES. ZOMG.
Warning: I have many emotions. Excuse the Taglish and/or conyo writing.
Where shall I start? Intro, maybe. I first read The Hunger Games back in 2010… oh wait, it was 2009 pala!!! So it’s THREE YEARS OF WAITING T___________T Well anyway, back in December 25, 2009. It was the Christmas gift I asked for. I finished it in one day, and on the 26th, I bought Catching Fire and finished it on the same day as well… then I had to wait for August 2010 for Mockingjay. So if you’ve read the second book, you’ll know it’s very BITIN.
In the meantime, I wanted to spread the love. I lent my friends and classmates the books, and THEY LOVED IT TOO. WHO WOULDN’T?? In a way, it was like Twilight all over again. Wherein almost half of the class batch read the book and we were fangirling about Peeta or Gale (but mostly Peeta… and Finnick)
Then we graduated… but I continued to spread the love to my college friends :D And of course, my HS friends and I continued to fangirl over twitter and tumblr.
So now there’s the movie. I’VE WAITED SOOO LONG FOR IT TO COME OUT AND I’VE JUST WATCHED IT TODAY.
BECAUSE OF ACADS.
AND IF YOU KNOW ME PERSONALLY, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT I WON’T LET ANYTHING GET IN THE WAY OF MY FANGIRLING UNLESS IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT.
SO I LITERALLY HAD NO TIME TO WATCH IT DURING THE FIRST WEEK. /WRISTS.
And I know it’s VERY selfish and self-centered of me but I got really jealous that the people I “spread the love” with got to watch it before me. T__________T JEALOUS ANNICK IS JEALOUS.
And because this year was so crazy, I had NO PLANS whatsoever to do this summer because a.) I had no time to daydream and b.) MY ONLY THOUGHT WAS THAT WHEN THIS SEMESTER ENDS, I CAN FINALLY WATCH THE HUNGER GAMES AT LAST.
So I finished watching it just 45 minutes ago or so. And I have so many thoughts and feelings that this deserves a blog post.
SO HERE’S MY LIST:
- OMG OMG OMG OMG.
- BEST. CAST. EVER. (Or it’s close to Harry Potter and LOTR and POTC.)
- (Though I still have doubts about Liam Hemsworth)
- KATNISS. JENNIFER LAWRENCE IS FLAWLESS.
- PEETA. JOSH HUTCHERSON IS LOVE. MARRY ME NOW.
- CATO. DAAAAMMMMMN ALEXANDER LUDWIG. #ovariesexplode
- EFFIE = Hilarious!! “That’s mahogany!”
- Haymitch & Cinna = PERFECT. Just what I thought they’d be like in the book.
- Prim & Rue = HUGS
- Seneca Crane! Awesomesauce! Haha, I love his character! He’s like badass and pitiful at the same time lols.
- The Capitol is so awesome! All the techie stuff in the gamemakers’ room is WOW.
- Ceasar Flickerman = best host ever! :))
- Buti pa ang Lechon nasa Hunger Games! =)))
- The costumes. Wow. Lady Gaga would fit right in.
- The visual effects. Great cinematography :-bd
And here are my “MEH” comments:
- They downplayed the PEENIS romance T____T I mean, sure it’s not the whole point of the book but I wish there could have been more. Like during the interview (which is one of my most favorite moments in the book!!!), after Peeta admits he likes Katniss… it was like… YUN LANG??? TAPOS NEGA NA AGAD REACTION NI KATNISS???
- THE CAVE SCENE T_________T Again, another YUN LANG?!?!?! MOMENT. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED.
- The “Deep in the meadow” song. I wish it was longer.
- RUE’S DEATH :((((( For me, the scene did not give it justice.
- TRAINING TIME. And strategizing with Haymitch and Cinna. Lessons with Effie. They cut out the part when Haymitch says “You’ve got about as much charm as a dead slug” :(
- PEENIS MOMENTS IN THE TRAIN. Even when Katniss is doubting Peeta.
- The Reaping! Wala man lang background music? =))))
- Walang bread from District 11 :(
- THE ENDING. Yes, I wanted Peeta to be heartbroken. Wala yung line na “It was all for the Games. How you acted.” :((
- WHERE THE HELL IS THE DANDELION IN THE SPRING?!?!?!
But what really bugged me was that they cut out the cave scene, the ending with Peeta heartbroken, the downplaying of “She came here with me” part and the dandelion in the spring :(
Random Thoughts/reactions in the cinema:
- Random guy in front: Anong nangyari na kay PETER? Me: Me (inside my head): WTF? IT’S PEETA DAMN YOU AND CAN YOU PLEASE SHUT UP!!!
- When they showed Gale during the PEENIS moments. Crowd: Awwwww. Me: MEH. CAN WE JUST GO BACK TO THE CAVE SCENE PLEASE????
- THRESH! =))))) I don’t know if it’s intentional. But the part with Clove he was like all black gangstah on her. FOR THE WIN! =))))))))))) #notmeanttoberacist
- RUE YOU ARE SO ADORBS!!! :))
- Josh Hutcherson, YOU ARE THE MOST PERFECT PEETA EVER. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU IN MOCKINGJAY (Even though I don’t like the book that much)
- Jennifer Lawrence, YOU. ARE. KATNISS. If you could act out every scene and say every line in the book, it would be perfection.
CONCLUSION: Comparing it to the book, it was ‘MEH’. But for some reason, I am not disappointed. I know it would not be a perfect translation but…
I JUST HAVE TO WATCH IT AGAIN :))
